Tonight’s race was a team effort. It started at 8:10PM, the track temp was 96 degrees (wow!), and there were 2 vets saluting old glory during the playing of the National Anthem. Sadie, the camp dog, made a brief pre-race appearance to inspect the track and then went home for a much needed nap.

There were 3 family’s present along with 40+ fans circling the track in the 90+ degree heat. Needless to say, the crowd was sweltering, even though at least 10 of them were first time visitors to a Rock Haven race.

Richard made a couple of unusual announcements before the race:

  1. There was watermelon in the clubhouse-brought & donated by visitors-and everyone was invited to have a slice of the refreshing cool fruit.
  2. An anonymous donor has offered to pay $100, at the end of the season, to anyone that can beat #11 (Nick) in a race. They are calling this, the ‘Stick-It-To-Nick’ incentive. And if he beats everyone…again…he will get an extra $150 at the end of the racing season. It sounds like someone is tired of #11 (Nick) winning all the time!

Here is a list of tonights drivers (and their counters):

#9 Dean – (Linda)
#11 Nick – (Kevin)
#14 Haul-Ass – (Carolyn)
#24 Wayne – (Deb)
#50 Tom – (Debbi)
#88 Richard – (Connie)

After the 1st heat-which rookie #50 (Tom) won for the 1st time-there was a long intermission. During that time there was a lot of activity! Here are the highlights-

  • One of the children brought his own remote controlled car (#12) and was allowed to take 3 laps, with the assistance of Geraldine (our Race Director) wildly waving flags. The child’s brother & sister also tried to do it, too, but were unable to gain control of the car. They all had a blast!
  • Ms G also shared some very HOT yummilicious stuffed jalapeno poppers with the crowd, that she had made herself. The temps just kept getting hotter as the race continued!
  • Every single driver assisted #14 (Haul-Ass) with a broken down car. You should have seen them all huddled around him at his table! Each driver donated a car part to help him stay in the race. Now that is what we call good sportsmanship!

Music for the race included: TNT Dynamite, Sideways, Taking Care of Business, Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off, and I Can’t Drive 55.

Our park owner, Susan, brought out her ‘speed gun’ and said that during the 1st Heat, the average speed was 19 MPH. The 2nd Heat went up to 25MPH and the final race reached 29MPH. Wow!

#11 (Nick) won the race (as usual) and let a little girl run around the track with the winners flag. It was a great ending to a great night!

See you at the races!

Even though summer hasn’t ‘officially’ started yet, last nights race was super HOT! After record breaking highs in the 90’s the track seemed like a cool 82 degrees after the sun went down.

Over 50+ fans sweltered in the heat to cheer on their favorite drivers and we had four family’s with children present. During the playing of the Star Spangled Banner, two veterans proudly saluted the American flag for this Memorial Day weekend race.

Here is a list of our drivers (and counters):

  1. Dean #9 [Truck #9]-(Sherry)
  2. Nick #11 [Truck #11]-(Kevin)
  3. Haul-Ass #14 [Truck #14]-(Carolyn)
  4. Wayne #24 -(Deb)
  5. Fred #41 [Truck #44] (Ruth)
  6. Tom #50 [Truck #50]-(Debbi)
  7. Richard #88 [Truck #4] (Connie)

The race started a little late, about 8:15, but we think its just due to the unbearable heat. It seems that everything goes at a slower pace when the temps rise. But our drivers did not disappoint when it came down to each left turn. And we won’t even mention that Ms G completely forgot to wave the green start flag for the 1st heat.  😉

With some fans lining the fence by the pool (probably to be close by in case they needed a cooling dip!), all the races took on a hazy lazy feel. Heck, truck #24 went 16 laps on a flat tire, before leaving the race to change it!

We had a wreck without a race (don’t ask!), and the #50 car  managed to zoom around the track with its battery hanging outside of the body during the feature race.

Music was generously provided by DJ Fred and there were some great tunes to tap a bare foot by. Songs included: Slow Ride, The Heat is On (totally relevant due to the temps!), Fly Like an Eagle, Something Bout a Truck, and Truckin’. Do ya see a trend here? Oh, and another song was played called I Love NASCAR (to the tune of I Love This Bar). I had never heard of that one! It was hilarious!

Congratulations to #11 (Nick)  for winning tonight’s race! All race results are posted here.

There was also a dance held afterwards and a surprise for one of our members. Read about it here.

The next race is June 9th. See you there!

This week’s RHL (Rock Haven Lodge) race was filled with action and adventure! With next weekend being Memorial Day, it was assumed that tonight’s race would be uneventful and possibly a little bit boring. Boy howdy, were we wrong!

[The track was in need of some major TLC due to heavy rains & hail earlier in the day.

Four drivers stepped up to the plate and spent 2 back breaking hours drying out the track.

So this is our shout out to: #88 (Richard), #50 (Tom), #11 (Nick), and #24 (Wayne). Way to go guys!!

Thank you for making the track spick & span and for saving the day with your unselfish dedication.]

The race officially started at 8:25PM due to the rain delay. The night was cool, and the track temp was 67 degrees. A running joke prior to the race, was that we are all ‘under cover nudists’ because it was too cool to be nude. Let’s face it, we may be nudists but we aren’t stupid. We put clothes on when it’s cold!

We had 20+ fans in attendance with 3 vets (a fan, a driver, and a counter) proudly saluting the flag during the playing of the national anthem.  And we were even mooned by #24 (Wayne) right before the start of the race. Yep, we knew then, that it was going to be a fun night!

A new ceiling fan has been installed over turns 3 &4. It will help a lot when the temps rise this summer!

And there was new paint on #9 (Dean)’s car & truck and it looked mighty fine at the beginning of the race. Here is a shot of both of them:

But after slamming into the guard rails and other cars during the race, it didn’t look so pristine.

Here is a list of tonight’s drivers (and their counters):

  1. #9 [#9 Truck]-Dean (Sherry)
  2. #11 [#11 Truck]-Nick (Kevin)
  3. #14-Haul Ass (Carolyn)
  4. #24 [#24 Truck]-Wayne (Deb)
  5. #41 [#44 Truck]-Fred (Jim)
  6. #88 [#4 Truck]-Richard (Connie)
  7. #50 [#50 Truck]-Tom (Debbi)

We want to thank Sherry for jumping in to help Dean as a last minute counter. She did a great job for her first time!

The race was filled with many cars slamming into the guard rails, into each other, and it looked like a heavy metal mosh-pit with all of them crashing into one another.

At one point #50 (Tom)’s car even jumped over the outside guard rail and onto the gravel by the pool. Wow! Sadly, #14 (Haul Ass) had mechanical difficulties and could not participate in the feature race.

During the truck race, #41 (Fred) had mechanical difficulties, had to remove his vehicle from the race and decided to kick #4 (Richard)’s truck up and over the center rail. Oh yeah, tempers do flare in the heat of the moment! No one can say that our drivers don’t have a passion for the race. They all take it very seriously!

During a 15 minute intermission, we heard some great music that included: Mississippi Queen, Bad to the Bone, Low Rider, and Sweet Home Alabama.

Near the end of the feature race, Sadie the camp dog, made her grand entrance.

Sadie-Camp Dog

She was leashed and got so excited every time the cars zoomed past her that she barked happily. She really, really, really wanted to chase them!

So when the race ended, her mom-RHL owner Susan let her off the leash and she romped around the track barking.

Fans, drivers, and counters cheered her on and #24 (Wayne) let her chase his car around the track. She barked, ran after it, and had a great time! What a great way to end the race!

Congrats to the winner of tonight’s race- #11 (Nick)! Click here to get all the official race results.

If you attended the race tonight, thank you for supporting RHL racing! And if you were unable to come, don’t worry; there will be another race next weekend.

See you at the races!

Here at Rock Haven Lodge Family Nudist Park we are very serious about our racing. Drivers paint their cars to match real NASCAR vehicles and wear matching hats. Our track is under a huge pavilion right next to the dart deck and has enough seating available for all our racing fans.

Before each family friendly race, the Star Spangled Banner is played, while everyone stands; and the race starts with a resounding ‘drivers start your engines’! (Since there are only electric cars raced here-its sort of a tradition but not really happening.)

While the cars are whizzing around the track, children are chanting their favorite driver’s number and fans are squealing with delight. Its a very festive atmosphere!

After each race we will post behind the scene comments, to keep you up-to-date on everything. Including:

  • Weather reports
  • Crowd size
  • Special Events
  • Wrecks & Accidents
  • Car Breakdowns
  • Music Played during breaks
  • Sadie (the camp dog) sightings
  • And anything else that happens during the race
